Lynn C. Fritz (C’64, Parent’98,’11,'27) graduated from Georgetown with a degree in history in 1964, later earning his J.D. from Lincoln University School of Law. He began his business career at Fritz, a small customs brokerage in San Francisco, eventually becoming chairman and CEO. Over three decades, he grew the company to 11,000 employees across 80 countries before selling it to UPS.
Fritz and his wife, Dr. Anisya Fritz, founded the nonprofit Fritz Institute to apply his logistics expertise to the humanitarian sector. For over 20 years, the institute pioneered the concept of Humanitarian Logistics, now taught in universities globally. It collaborates with organizations like the Red Cross and U.N. to enhance humanitarian supply chains through technology, training, and best practices. The Lynn C. Fritz Award for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics is the field's most prestigious honor.
Fritz is a member of the Logistics Hall of Fame, the Air Cargo Hall of Fame, and the Council of Supply Chain Managers Hall of Fame. He is often regarded as the Father of Modern Logistics and Humanitarian Logistics.
Fritz has served two terms on the Georgetown Board of Directors. He has received Honorary Doctorates from Pepperdine and Drexel universities, the Citizen Diplomat award from the International Diplomacy Council, and the California Prize for Service of the Common Good.
Fritz and his wife currently own Lynmar Estate, a luxury Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producer in Sonoma, California, home to the annual Georgetown Wine Country event.
