Val Demings is a distinguished public servant who has broken numerous barriers throughout her career. She holds a B.S. in Criminology and a Master’s in Public Administration. Demings made history as Orlando’s first female Chief of Police, leading innovative programs like Operation Positive Direction and Operation Free Palms to address crime and empower at-risk communities.

Demings was elected to Congress in 2016, where she served on key committees including Judiciary, Intelligence, and Homeland Security. In 2019, she was appointed impeachment manager for Donald Trump’s first impeachment, becoming one of the first women and Black Americans to serve in this role. Demings was a vocal advocate for progressive issues, including gun violence prevention, election security, and criminal justice reform.

In 2022, she ran for Senate in Florida, driven by the belief that improving Florida would help improve the nation. Demings is also an Executive Fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center, focusing on bipartisan solutions to improve Americans' lives. A member of various professional and community organizations, Demings is committed to public service.
